Conference on MaleFertility Research

Conference on Male Fertility and Research

The University of Colombo, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Sri Lanka, successfully hosted the Conference on Male Fertility: Breaking the Silence and Advancing Research.

This groundbreaking event brought together a diverse group of experts, researchers, medical professionals, and policymakers to explore the often-overlooked topic of male fertility—a critical but under-discussed aspect of reproductive health. The conference served as a platform to present the latest findings in male fertility research, examine social and cultural perceptions, and discuss barriers to diagnosis, treatment, and open conversation.

Key sessions addressed:

  • Emerging trends and data in male fertility
  • The impact of environmental and lifestyle factors
  • Mental health and masculinity in the context of fertility
  • The role of policy in advancing male reproductive health services

The conference also featured a panel discussion and interactive Q&A sessions, encouraging dialogue between academia, practitioners, and the public.

This event is part of the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation in Social Policy’s ongoing commitment to fostering evidence-based policy discussions and inclusive reproductive health research in Sri Lanka and the region.
